Paradiso Awaits

Fancy a two-week self-drive trip, getting lost in nature and drinking in sights of medieval towns, while savouring fine food and wine? Tuscany’s breathtaking countryside will surely cast a spell over you. Blessed with rolling hills, lush vineyards and olive groves, the region’s splendour lies not just in its natural beauty, but also its rustic charm.
There’s no point trying to see Tuscany – much less Italy – in a few days. Take it slow, a cappuccino at a time. The best way to explore it is to hire a car and unearth the best of its ancient Etruscan, Roman and medieval towns. Take the Autostrada S2 from Florence to the vine-clad hills of Siena, where one is rewarded with slabs of Panforte fruitcake and cured salumi made from local Cinta Senese pigs.
