Simply Magical
WHEN March 28, 2009
WHERE A solemnisation ceremony, afternoon tea and dinner reception at the Grange Cleveland Winery in Lancefield, Victoria, Australia.
courtship “We met on a university ski trip in 2001. There, we realised that I had been rehearsing a dance solo to a music recording of Andrew’s violin solo, and we were supposed to be performing together at Melba Concert Hall in Melbourne University shortly after. It all felt like it was meant to be and we clicked instantly,” Jane reminisces.
PROPOSAL More than six years later, he asked Jane out for a “concert” at the same hall, and sprung a delightful surprise: He played the grand piano on the stage and sung a song he wrote that incorporated the proposal. “Sitting in the otherwise empty hall, I was stunned. It took me a while before I realised that Andrew was proposing. Afterwards, he took me on a horse carriage ride around the university and all our sentimental spots, ending with dinner at French restaurant Bistro Vue. Everything felt so surreal,” says Jane.
MAIN EVENT The Grange Cleveland Winery boasts panoramic views of the Macedon Ranges, a lake and a heritage Homestead house, which provided accommodation for the guests. The couple held a garden ceremony on a perfect autumn afternoon, with Jane’s mother walking the bride down the aisle. The pair then shared their personal messages and self-written vows that tugged at the heartstrings of everyone present. Says Jane: “When preparing these (and keeping it a secret from each other), we reflected a lot on our seven-year relationship. That process really highlighted to us how much we had been through and what we meant to each other.”
